Sir Joseph Banks, the eminent naturalist lies at rest in St. Leonard's church, while the last soldier to die as a result of a flogging rests in the churchyard. Nearby are fields where once grew top quality wheat supplied to Elizabeth I. An 18th century public house and the original fire station provide further interest.
