The guides welcomed a large attendance at its first tour for its 2023 season of walks. Themed on discovering Isleworth’s history through former residents and entitled Graveyard to Cemetery, this included exploring the latter that is sporting renovated pedestrian gates dating from its 1880’s opening. The meeting point was All Saints Church and examples of the many former residents recounted ranged from Queen Elizabeth l’s bear keeper to a proof reader for Charles Dickens, a victim of the loss of the Titanic in 1912 and not forgetting local Victorian heroine Alice Ayres.
