Guided, historical walks in Hounslow Borough
Guided historical walksin Hounslow Borough
Who’d have thought it, Hounslow Borough, so much mystery, so steeped in history? There’s no better way to discover lesser-known byways, sort out fact from fiction about local towns and villages, than joining Hounslow Heritage Guides on their range of tours from June to October. These take place at Thames riverside Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth as well as Hounslow Heath, revealing tales such as:-
- A highwayman dancing with his lady
- 200 soldiers perishing during the Battle of Brentford
- Vincent Van Gogh teaching scripture and languages in Isleworth
- An aristocrat disposing of his wife’s body in the Thames at Chiswick
Such diverse places as Bedfont, Hanworth and Heston are covered on occasion. All tours are taken at a gentle pace.
There’s no need to book, just turn up and pay the voluntary guide on the day – cost £5 children free.
